Have you ever asked God to help you with the answer or show you the way? I have so many times. My life has evolved over the last 5 years so much. I have to be in the "Will of God" or doing what God leads me to do. There are no ifs, ands or buts about it. Money doesn't matter. Status doesn't matter. My happiness, wealth, health and soundness is all wrapped up in doing what God wants me to do. Life is much easier when you are on the "God Path".
So, I have found myself studying scriptures about being led by God. One promise I love in the Bible is Jeremiah 29:11-13. 'For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. ‘To that I say Thank You Lord!
To find God, I had to find His word for me in situation where I needed His guidance. I don't want to lean on my ability (thoughts, precepts, ideas or wants); I want His ability (will, plan and purpose). Here's what I found to help me pray for guidance in everyday matters:
Guide me into all truth (John 16:13)
Guide me by the skillfulness of Your hands (Psalm 112:5)
Lead me in a plain path because of my enemies (Psalm 27:11)
Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil (Matthew 6:13)
Send out Your light and truth, and let them lead me (Psalm 43:3)
and,
Lead me, and make Your way straight before my eyes (Psalm 5:8).
The last scripture is the one I meditated on last night and woke up thinking about this morning. It is simple and all encompassing of what I need right now in my life. I don't want to miss the opportunities God is presenting before my eyes and I don't want my own will or desires to keep me from His Will.
Lord, give me eyes to see and ears to hear that I may know your will, plan and purpose for my life. You are a way maker and a promise keeper. I choose to lean on your ability and not my own. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.
