Courage To Be Who God Made You To Be

It takes courage to be Christian in this day and time. Society would have us hush away anything that has to do with Christ. He is no longer in our schools and He is no longer with us wherever we go. Christians have decided to leave Jesus at home and venture out into the world thinking all will be well. If we can't take Jesus with us, why think He should show up in the middle of our tragedies outside of the homes? Holy Scriptures are clear and states, “but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 10:33".

Our call and commitment to Christianity is a new covenant with Jesus Christ. "Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me. Matthew 16:24." Nowhere in the scriptures does it say leave Him in the privacy of your home hidden. In fact, scripture states, “No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. Luke 8:16."  We are light in a world filled with darkness. Scriptures states, "You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 1 Thessalonians 5:5." Light brings life and hope. Light represents Christ. We are the body of Christ and we should let our light and His truth lead and guide us everywhere we go.

Over the last decade, I have evolved in many ways. One is in the knowledge of Jesus and His Kingdom purpose for my life. I had to die to self and everything I thought I knew. My family had to submit our wants and wishes (our will) and pray for God's will. It was a true surrender and one that we do not regret. This choice brings with it good and bad. For non-believers and "Christians" who have not fully surrendered (and this includes family and friends), they look at us and think we have changed to be judgmental or plain crazy. We have decided to follow Jesus and we don't judge.  This means establishing family rules that line up with our faith. Every man has to give account to what they do, say and especially how they raise their children. We pray about every decision we have to make, as well as try to live by scripture in raising our children. This means we have to let our children know the biblical meaning of marriage, discipline, work, worship, forgiveness and love for all people; while helping them understand that people make choices that don't always line up with God's word. The choices that the mass majority of people are making today do not make them the norm or right. It just mean the world is following after its own desire, imagination and living for self versus taking up the cross and following Jesus Christ.
