I am blessed with two beautiful children who are healthy and happy. The one thing that nags at me is their skin eczema. I am still trying to figure out the link between this skin condition that seems to flare up with seasonal allergies and asthma.
There has to be a common link that everyone is missing. While I have heard there are possible environmental links, as well as generational health issues, I am still left perplexed. My husband and I have the occasional seasonal allergies, but have never has an asthma attack. My daughter has not had an attack either.
In a 2005 UK study, the findings show the number of asthma cases had stabilized. The first survey, which included about 3700 kids, was in the late 60s. The study also showed that eczema and hay fever were on the rise -- since 1999. What does that mean? I am left with the age old question of is it something in the food we eat ?
Clearly, we eat more processed foods now than ever. I grew up on a farm in Alabama. I cannot recall one child in grade school with asthma or ADHD. If we didn't pay attention, we were spanked and it was cleared up immediately. Allergies were normal, especially if you were outside a lot in the spring and fall. Isn't that normal anyway?
So much of the things we have pills for now just didn't seem to be an issue when I was growing up, but now they are very much an issue. We have decided to read through the side effects of Singular very thoroughly this weekend. I will let you know the results.
