Uncertainty looms. If you are like most, there is some area
of your life that is changing or being changed due to circumstances out of your
control. While we say change is inevitable; it always seems to be a surprise
and we are stricken with doubt and fear. One would have to wonder why God would allow
those situations that seem to just appear in our lives out of no where. Or, does He? The truth is in God’s
word and if we are in Jesus, the Holy Spirit reveals to us all truth. However,
it is our free will that determines whether or not we seek, receive and believe
the truth.
In Isaiah 59:1-14 we find a summation of these word: “Behold, the Lord's
hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot
hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have
hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear. We grope for the wall like
the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes; we stumble at noonday as at
twilight; we are as dead men in desolate places. We all growl like bears, and
moan sadly like doves; we look for justice, but there is none; for salvation,
but it is far from us. For our transgressions are multiplied before you, and
our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and as for our
iniquities, we know them.
The only thing standing in between us, spiritual freedom and eternal life is
acceptance and repentance. Seems easy, but instead of choosing the narrow
straight path; we chose the wide road to fame, self-promotion and exotic
luxuries that are of the world. We believe what we see on TV, but we can’t believe
in the story of Jesus. We condense the Bible to mythological stories that are used only to inspire our own self esteem. In the presence of the Savior, will we know and believe him or will
we deny him like Peter did? There are things in our lives we know are not
possible and could never have been so without the help of the Almighty, yet
many deny Him in Spirit and truth.
Paul was a Pharisee of Pharisees (Acts 23:6) according to
his own words, he knew the words of the prophets like Isaiah, better than most,
but until Jesus revealed Himself to Paul, Paul was in darkness. Paul could not see Jesus as the Messiah
revealed by the prophets in the Old Testament, not until the Spirit of God
moved in his heart, when Jesus appeared to him on the road to Damascus. The
Holy Spirit reveals the mysteries or the deep things of God to us (1 Corinthians
2:10). Think back on the majors of your
life that didn’t turn out the way you wanted. How many times did you deny hearing or sensing Him guiding you?
How many times can you say, “something told me do this or that" or “something
told me to turn that way”? Believe and receive. No good thing will God withhold from us, if we choose to follow Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to comfort and help us (John 16:7).
Father God, I desire to be
an instrument for Your Kingdom. You promised the Holy Spirit to those who
believe in Jesus. Baptize and fill me to overflowing in the Holy Spirit so that
the power of your resurrection will work in me and transform me according to Your
will. Work Your gifts in me and through me, so that I become a recipient of all
the promises of the Father’s Kingdom. Allow me to be a living testimony of Your
power, mercy and mission for my life. I ask this in Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen.
